Clemson Tigers – Tennessee Volunteers
Orange Bowl
Hard Rock Stadium
Miami, FL
December 30, 2022
Line: CLEM -6, O/U: 61
The Capital One Orange Bowl is the primetime game tonight! Oddsmakers like Clemson as they are favored by 6 points.
Where is the value??
In what would normally be a spectacular matchup, it is yet another bowl game heavily affected by the transfer portal and opt-outs for the draft.
Tennessee’s QB Hendon Hooker had his incredible season end in a torn ACL so he will be unavailable and Clemson’s QB DJ Uiagalelei announced he’s transferring. Because of this,
we will see backups featured tonight and expect the defenses to be aggressive. The Volunteers will still score points, but won’t be near as efficient as during the regular season where they
were ranked 1st in points/game. To make it even tougher for the Vols backup Joe Milton III, he will be playing without arguably the best receiver in college football Jalin Hyatt and his counterpart Cedric Tillman as they prep for the NFL draft. He’ll be facing an underrated Clemson defense as they sneakily ranked 18th in the NCAAF, allowing just 20.1PPG. Neither team ranks in the top 30 in pace of play. Clemson’s last 4 neutral site games have all hit the under. In the Tigers 13 games, 62 or fewer points have been scored 10 times, meaning this line would’ve hit at a 77% rate. With a Clemson team that keeps scores below 62 and a Tennessee offensive threat much less than they had in the regular season, we see this going under. The line opened at 63.5 and has already shifted to 61.5 points due to these factors. Lock this in as soon as you can!
