We see a Clippers team that has been much improved scoring the ball and winning more consistently since Paul George and Kawhi Leonard have been healthy. However, on Monday night against the Heat, leading scorer PG13 tweaked the same hamstring that held him out earlier this season. Although he’s listed as questionable tonight we expect him to sit out of precaution as they need him healthy long term. The Clippers rank 28th in the NBA this season in PPG, averaging 109.5/game. Without PG13 this season they are by far the worst in the NBA, averaging just 106.3. On the other side of the ball, LA has been lock-down on defense. They allow the 3rd fewest points in the NBA and are top 5 in both opponent FG% and 3PT FG%. Look for them to force Nikola Jokic to get rid of the ball, leading to longer possessions and tougher shots at the end of the shot clock. Both teams rank in the bottom 10 in possessions/game so it should be a relatively slow paced game. In their one matchup this season Denver won 114-104 as they accumulated 218 points. More robust data: over their last 54 matchups, the under has hit at a 67% rate, showing that Vegas constantly overestimates this Western Conference showdown.
